What is a restoration?

Restorations are where we digitally repair damaged photographs. Problems can include damage to corners, marked areas, missing sections, mould or water damage, folds, tears and large areas of surface cracking.

Costs are based on the time we expect the repair to take. As a guide they are normally between £10 - £40

Common Questions

I don't have a scanner, can I send you the print to repair?

Yes of course. Send it to us at the address below along with your contact details and we will scan and repair it for you. The original will be returned

What types of digital files can I upload for restoration?

The best format to upload is JPG format, though TIF and PNG are also suitable. All images must be less than 2GB in size, otherwise they will be rejected by the upload software. Please ensure that your images are of sufficient size and have enough clarity, see our upload and scanning tips on the best way to scan and send your photos to us.

What instructions do I need to provide you to repair the photo?

None. Our specialist restoration team are very experienced and know how to repair damaged photos. However if you have any special requests, such as "remove the border", "remove the people in the background" please let us know. If we are colouring the photo for you then you may wish to specify some of the colours, such as "brown eyes", "blonde hair", "blue dress" etc, otherwise we will use our judgement on what colours we think are appropriate.

Can you fix all photos?

Repairs can be made to most photos, but not all photos can be repaired to the same high standard. Most photos can be improved to some degree though results vary depending the damage that has occurred and the quality of the original photo or print. If for any reason your photo cannot be restored, we will let you know during the quotation process and you won't have to pay for any images that we cannot restore to a sufficient quality.

How long does it take?

Restorations are usually completed within a week from the date you approve the repair quotation. If you are in a hurry then please let us know and we will try to prioritize your photo.

Can I see the repaired photo before I pay?

Yes. We will upload a reduced size version of your photo into your online account for you to view. If you are happy with the repair then payment can be taken and the repaired photo made available to you.

What is the risk?

There is no risk for you at all. Our quotes are final and there are no extras or hidden charges (unless you change your requirements). Repairs do not commence until you have approved the repair quote, so if you don't accept the quote you pay us nothing. If you accept the quote but are not happy with the repair work we have done, then we will repair the photo for you again. If you are still not happy we will not charge you anything. Any original photos you sent us will be returned to you free of charge even if you reject the quotation or repair.

Please note: Any original items that you send us will be scanned and edited digitally using high quality professional scanning equipment and the latest computer software. The original items are then returned to you untouched once the digital repair is complete.

We do not physically repair or restore your original photo, slide or film as we are not equipped to do this.
